On March 18, 2012, at 2252 hours, the Cypress Police Department received several 911 calls reporting a traffic accident on Valley View, south of Lakeshore. Callers reported that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of Valley View. The first officers and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics arrived on scene within minutes, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The party that struck the pedestrian was not injured.

The regional Serious Traffic Accident Response (STAR) team was called out to the scene and is handling the investigation. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the accident is asked to call the Cypress Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau at (714) 229-6634. The driver has not been charged with a crime as the accident remains under investigation.
