Statewide Shoulder Tap Operation nets five arrests in Corona. 
On Friday, March 15, 2013, the Corona Police Department participated in an ABC Statewide Shoulder Tap Operation. During the operation, 31 subjects were contacted by decoys, which resulted in five adults being arrested from 10 off-sale locations.
Shoulder Tap Operations target adults who purchase alcohol for people under 21 years of age. The program involves a minor, under the supervision of a peace officer, outside a liquor or convenience store asking patrons to buy alcohol. The minor indicates in some manner that he or she are underage and unable to purchase alcohol. If the adult agrees to purchase alcohol for the minor, officers will arrest and cite the person for furnishing alcohol. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum of $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service.
This project is part of an Alcohol and Beverage Control grant the Corona Police Department received in July 2012.
