Suspicious Circumstances
On Monday, March 11, 2013, at approximately 8:00 a.m., three female juveniles were approached by a Hispanic male driving a white work van on the 1200 Block of Almanor Avenue near Belle Haven School. It was reported that the male asked the juveniles in Spanish if they knew the janitor at Belle Haven School. The juveniles didn’t respond and continued walking to school and reported it to school administrators immediately. Officers conducted an area check for the suspect with negative results.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 30-40 years old, wearing a green and yellow A’s baseball hat, green jacket and blue jeans (see attached sketch). The suspect matches the description of a male from an indecent exposure case in the same area of Menlo Park on February 1, 2013.
The Menlo Park Police Department is actively investigating this incident and increasing patrols around the neighborhood schools. We are encouraging parents to take the time to remind their children of the importance of being aware of their surroundings and urging them to contact the police whenever they observe something they believe to be out of the ordinary, as in this case.
The Menlo Park Police Department is asking anyone who might have additional information regarding this incident and/or who witnessed this incident to call the police department at (650) 330-6300 or the Anonymous Tip Hotline at (650) 330-6395.
