Annual APD Awards Ceremony hosted today to recognize police employee, volunteer achievements over the past year.

Each year the Arlington Police Department hosts an awards ceremony to recognize the dedication and impressive achievements of police employees and the department’s community and business partners. The annual awards ceremony was held today at HighPoint Church with guest emcee KDFW-TV/FOX4’s Brandon Todd. This deserving group of honorees – both nominees and award recipients – went above and beyond the call of duty to serve the citizens of Arlington. This ceremony was a small thank you for that effort.

At the lunchtime celebration, a detective was honored for his dedicated work in the battle against human trafficking and ability to work closely with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. A rookie officer, who quickly developed an understanding of beat accountability and being proactive in his policing approach, was recognized for his steadfast commitment. A sergeant, who has an unparalleled dedication to child welfare cases that regularly include heinous crimes against children, was honored for his ability to work closely with his detectives and the prosecutors who resolve these very sensitive cases. Attached is a copy of the ceremony program, which includes photographs of nominees. Recipients are listed below.

His daughter, Jeri McMillan Anfin, shared her father’s passion for family and community, began sponsoring the awards program in 2004, and died in 2007.
