Ashland Rail Construction Update

CSX has informed us that they have completed phase 1 of the rail construction work ahead of schedule. This work entailed replacing the rails on the eastern section of tracks. Pursuant to their construction schedule, phase 2 will not begin until March 17, 2013. During this interim period (March 6 thru March 16), the parking restrictions on northbound Center Street/Railroad Avenue will be lifted.

Phase 2 will involve the replacing of the wooden railroad ties on both tracks, which will affect parking on both sides of Center Street/Railroad Avenue beginning March 17. As we get closer to the start date for this phase of construction, we will make our community aware of those sections of Center Street/Railroad Avenue that will be limited for traffic and parking. The primary purpose of these parking restrictions will be to minimize property damage to vehicles and allow CSX construction traffic the necessary room to complete their tasks. CSX remains committed to completing phase 2 work in the Railroad Avenue business corridor on Sundays to minimize any impact on our business community during the work week.

During this time, the secondary road crossings will remain closed to allow CSX to move faster in the completion of phase 2. We appreciate our community’s patience during this project.
