One Injured in One Car Traffic Crash

Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to a one car traffic crash on M-51 Hwy at Downey St. in Cass County's SilverCreek Township at 8:30am on 3-6-2013. The investigation of the crash showed that a vehicle driven by Alex Engelman (21 years old from Kalamazoo, MI) was south bound on M-51 Hwy. Engelman attempted to pass a slow moving vehicle and lost control of his car. Engelman's vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Engelman was extracated from the vehicle and transported to Borgess/Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment for his injuries. Engelman was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Assisting at the scene of the crash were Pokagon Tribal Police, Dowagiac Police Dept., Sisterlakes Fire Dept and Pridecare Ambulance.
