School lockdown training activity tomorrow Wednesday March 6th at the High School / Middle School Campus.

Message from Deputy Chief Howe;

There will be a school lockdown training which has been coordinated between the Tyngsborough School system, Tyngsborough Police Department and the NEMLEC Swat unit. This will occur at some point during the day tomorrow, Wednesday March 6th. The goal of the training is to test and improve upon the coordinated efforts between the school and law enforcement during an actual lockdown. This excercise will have a minimum disruption to the school day of the students; the school has been notifying parents and students for the past week. Residents near the school campus have also been notified of this training event by the Police Department via hand delivered flyers. The reason for this additional notification is that there will be SWAT units parked in the area of the school and we want to have clear communication to our residents that this is only a training event.

The following is the notice sent out by Tyngsborough School's.

Please accept this communication as notification that both Tyngsborough High School and Tyngsborough Middle School will have an Emergency Lockdown Drill on Wednesday, March 6, 2013. In conjunction with the Tyngsborough Police Department and Northeast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC), the Norris Road Campus will practice our emergency response procedures. Members of the police department and NEMLEC will be available to meet with staff at the end of the day to discuss the simulation and answer questions.

We are pleased with our continued collaboration with the Tyngsborough Police Department and are planning an emergency procedure drill at Tyngsborough Elementary School later this spring. Parents and community members will be notified prior to any drill at Tyngsborough Elementary School
