Shoplifting complaint leads to pursuit and arrests. See Facebook and email for details.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., the Steuben County Sheriff's Office was called to the GAP Store at the Outlet Shops in Fremont in reference to a possible theft that had just occurred. Two females were in the store when one was observed placing clothing into a shopping bag. The females left without paying for that item, and then went to other stores. A deputy arrived at the Outlets, and observed the suspects coming out of the Polo Store. The deputy was approaching the suspects and was trying to stop them when the suspects went to leave in their vehicle, almost striking the deputies patrol vehicle.

The suspects then fled southbound in their vehicle, with the deputy in pursuit. The suspects continued to flee southbound onto I69. The pursuit continued south on I69 until they finally stopped just south of State Road 6 at the 334 mile marker. The two females were then taken into custody without incident, and transported to the Steuben County Jail. The suspects had stolen items from at least 4 different stores, and over $1500 worth of items were recovered.

Taken in to custody at the scene of the stop was:

Shaholony Monique Stanford, 29 years old, of Indianapolis. Charged with Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, and Resisting Law Enforcement by Vehicle, all Class D Felonies
