February 26, 2013

1405 Hours: Officer’s Homayoun and Jackman responded to the area of Lake Boulevard and Channel Drive for a complaint of a male talking to himself and possibly drinking alcohol. Upon arrival Officers contacted Carlos Colin (02/18/1971) of Newark. Colin immediately became combative and was forcefully taken to the ground. A spit hood and a leg restraint device were also utilized at the scene. Colin was treated at a local hospital as a precaution and booked at Santa Rita Jail for 647(f) PC- drunk in public, 148(a)(1) PC- resisting arrest, and 243(b) PC- battery on a police officer.

1443 Hours: Officer Ramos was dispatched to a vehicle collision in the 4900 block of Norwich Place. A driver collided with two parked vehicles and she was transported to a local hospital as a precaution due to a complaint of pain.

1506 Hours: Detective Todd was dispatched to a collision in the 5900 block of Central Avenue. A 13-year-old crashed his bicycle causing an injury to himself. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and his parents were notified.

1755 Hours: Officers were dispatched to the area of Newark Boulevard and Cedar Boulevard after a Citizen reported seeing two males carrying what appeared to be a shotgun. Officers Williams and Ramos located the pair in the area after seeing one of the males carrying the gun. The pair was detained at gunpoint and it was later determined they were both juveniles. The gun itself was a replica “Air Soft” rifle.
An unrelated male identified as David Vazquez (11/07/1971) of Newark was in the area began to give his opinion at the scene of how the officers should handle the situation. Officers learned Vazquez had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest. The juveniles were released to their parents and Vazquez was arrested for his warrant.

1817 Hours: Officer Rogers investigated a three vehicle minor injury traffic collision on Cedar Blvd. at Central Ave. A passenger in one of the involved vehicles was transported to the hospital for complaint of pain.

1833 Hours: Officers responded to a minor injury traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Haley St. at Fountaine Ave. The pedestrian complained of leg and elbow pain and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle Cynthia Bernardo (DOB 11251992 of Newark) was placed under arrest for 12500 (a)CVC – no drivers license and transported to Fremont Jail where she was booked.

2012 Hours: Officers responded to the report of 3 subjects dressed in all black clothing, wearing masks, hopping fences of residences in the 37000 block of Saint Edwards St. A perimeter was set and a yard to yard K9 search was conducted. No suspects were located or crime could be established.
