Recent rash of burglaries in Sausalito

The City of Sausalito has seen a sudden increase in commercial and residential burglaries within the last thirty days.

Recent commercial burglaries:

• Commercial burglary, 600 block of Bridgeway. The suspect smashed a window to the business to gain entry and stole approximately $600 from the register.
• Commercial burglary, 3000 block of Bridgeway. The suspect gained entry to the business through an unlocked window or door and stole approximately $200 from the register.
• Commercial burglary, 3000 block of Bridgeway. The suspect gained entry to the business through an unlocked window and stole two iPods.
• Commercial burglary, 100 block of Libertyship Way. The suspect smashed a window to the business to gain entry and stole approximately $300 from the register.
• Commercial burglary, 200 block of Caledonia Street. The suspect smashed a window to the business to gain entry and stole approximately $2,000 from multiple registers.

Recent residential burglaries:

• Residential burglary, 200 block of Currey Lane. The suspect pried open a rear sliding door to gain entry and stole valuables.
• Residential burglary, 100 block of Booker Avenue. The suspect entered the residence through an unlocked front door and stole electronics.
• Residential burglary, unit block of Marin Avenue. The suspect entered the residence by breaking a front door window and then stole valuables.
• Residential burglary, unit block of Santa Rosa Avenue. The suspect entered the residence by breaking a rear door window and then stole valuables.

The Sausalito Police Department has made investigating this current spike in burglaries a priority. Officers are conducting directed patrols in the affected areas. Officers and our detective are checking with potential witnesses and checking for security camera footage that may identify possible suspects.

The Sausalito Police Department encourages citizens to report any suspicious activity they may see in their neighborhood or in commercial areas. Merchants are asked to remove money from their cash register and secure it in their safe overnight.

Both merchants and resident alike are asked to make sure that their doors and windows are locked when they leave and that alarms are activated.
