**Update**LASD Shooting Death Investigation, Compton (Log 51)
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred Sunday, February 24, 2013, at approximately 5:15 AM, that resulted in the death of a male adult and the wounding of a second victim.
Investigators have learned that Compton Sheriff's deputies responded to the location regarding a 9-1-1 call of a shooting in the 600 block of South Long Beach Boulevard, Compton.
When deputies arrived they found one of the victims, a 39-year old male, lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim, a 39-year old male, was located in the rear of the location also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition; he is expected to survive.
Sheriff's Homicide Lieutenant Corina said that according to witnesses, the victims were hanging out in front of the location when the suspect, a male Black adult (approximately 25-years old), exited the location and walked past the victims. An argument ensued and gang slogans were exchanged, at which time the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victims. The suspect then ran off in an undetermined direction.
