Two additional commercial burglaries from the weekend in Petaluma.

CITY OF PETALUMA, CA
POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE/BROADCAST

DATE: MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2013

DATE AND TIME OCCURRED: FEBRUARY 16, 2013 AT 8:36 AM AND 5:42 PM

REPORT NUMBER: 13-720 AND 13-728

INCIDENT: COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

LOCATION: HOPSICE OF PETALUMA-400 BLOCK OF PAYRAN
ST. JOHN’S EPISCOPAL CHURCH-40 BLOCK OF FIFTH STREET

SUSPECTS: UNKNOWN

SUMMARY: On the above dates and times officers responded to reports of burglaries at Hospice of Petaluma and St. John’s Episcopal Church. It appears that in the early hours of Saturday, an unknown suspect broke the front glass door of Hospice with a piece of wood and then made entry into the business. It did not appear that anything was taken, but the business representative still needed to contact some employees. At the church, an unknown suspect broke a window in the business office of the church and made entry into the office. The suspect attempted to steal items, but did not appear to be successful. These were the second and third commercial burglaries this weekend, including the Pic and Go Market burglary. Merchants are encouraged not to keep cash over night in cash registers and report and suspicious activity to the police department. Since August 2012, 41 commercial burglaries have occurred. Many of the burglaries are similar because of the late night time of occurrence, a window being broken to gain access and cash or a cash register being stolen.
