Press Release**East Brunswick Officers disarm man who confronted them with a knife**
On Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at approximately 11:24pm East Brunswick Police Units responded to the Civic Center Apartments for a 911 call from a distraught person. Upon arrival officers encountered the individual, Milan Obradovich 76 year old male from East Brunswick, who had made the phone call. Mr. Obradovich was in the hallway of his apartment brandishing a knife. Officers ordered Mr. Obradovich to drop the knife, but he failed to comply with their orders. Mr. Obradovich advanced on the officers brandishing the knife. Officers employed pepper spray to keep the subject at a safe distance and then utilized a ballistic shield to approach and disarm him.
Mr. Obradovich was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, obstruction and resisting arrest.
He was transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy Division, for evaluation.
