Clean-Up Finished, Now It’s Time to Paint-Up and Fix-Up the Hacienda

New Port Richey, Florida — New Port Richey City Officials are gearing up to paint the Hacienda, install an irrigation system, plant sod, and replace windows on Saturday, February 23rd, as a follow up to their successful Community Clean Up Day.

Over 350 volunteers showed up on Saturday, January 12th for the City of New Port Richey’s Hacienda Hotel First Community Clean-Up Day. With support from residents, city staff, city council members, and business and community leaders throughout Pasco County, the community-wide project was an overwhelming success.

Now, the City is asking for the support of the community once again on February 23rd. In addition to residents, groups with experience in the skilled trades will be needed. Volunteers will tackle painting exterior trim; painting exterior railings; window pane replacement; irrigation system installation; and laying sod.

Built in 1920, the Hacienda Hotel was originally known as a "Bit of Old Spain Amid the Palms" and was visited by some of the most famous celebrities of the 1920s. Located at 5621 Main Street, the Hacienda was operated as a hotel for many years before conversion to an assisted living facility. The Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) purchased the Hacienda Hotel in August 2004, and since 2006 the Hacienda has been vacant. Now the City is bringing it back to life as its most prominent “Community Treasure.”

The Hacienda Hotel Community Paint-Up and Fix-up Day is Saturday, February 23rd from 8:00am - 12:00pm. Volunteers are asked to sign-up by February 15th at noon. Please email Marilyn Mercado:
