Winter Storm Information Update

Good Morning:
 
Here is the latest from NWS Gray Maine:
 
Heavy snow accumulations are expected on Friday into the evening. A winter storm watch is currently in effect statewide.  Some areas of the state may see snow accumulation totaling 2+ feet. A Blizzard Warning has been issued for eastern Hillsborough and all of Rockingham and Strafford Counties.
  
Predictions:
 
Temperature: Highs during the day on Friday are predicted to be around 30 on the coast, teens in the north and in the 20s for the rest of the state. Friday night temps will drop to the teens in the South and single digits in the North.  Temperatures will be similar to a couple of degrees cooler on Saturday as the storm moves out.
 
Wind: Winds are a concern for blowing and drifting snow.  The Coast can expect gusts to 50-55 mph. NWS predicts wind gusts of 45-50 mph in the blizzard area. The rest of the state will see 10-20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
 
Snow: Snow accumulation will be 6-10” for Coos County and 10-20” in Southern and Central NH with the possibility of 24”+ in some areas. This will be a very significant storm for the Seacoast region. Light snow is expected to begin early Friday morning and intensifying into the afternoon. By 1900 Friday there will be 6” accumulation in the South and 2” in the North.  From 1900 Friday to 0700 Saturday heaviest accumulation will occur throughout the state.  All snowfall is expected end by 1200 Saturday.
 
Rain:  There will not be any rain associated with this storm.
 
Ice Accretion:  There is no potential for icing with this storm.
 
Marine Forecast:  A Coastal Flood Watch has been issued with a 1-3’ surge expected Saturday morning.  High tide at 0954 Saturday morning will be at 1 foot below flood stage.  Hurricane force winds of 60+ knots over the water with 25-30 foot seas expected.
 
Travel: Commutes on Friday night and Saturday morning will be severely impacted by this storm.  Unnecessary travel after 1900 Friday should be avoided.
