The Steuben County Deputies Association announced today that as part of a collective effort between deputies and a concerned parent, the crossing guard for the Pleasant Lake Elementary School is better equipped.

While conducting school patrols, some deputies noticed that the crossing guard for the school was not very well lit and that it was posing a hazard for him and the children crossing. A parent of one of the school children also contacted a deputy about the potential hazard. The Deputies Association then began the search for a safer crossing guard sign that is equipped with LED lighting to get the attention of approaching vehicles.

As a result of this collective effort and concern for safety, the Deputies Association purchased two LED crossing guard signs. The sign was presented to the crossing guard on February 7th.
