On Saturday, 05 January 2013, Detectives Mabner Terron & David Guzman were in the area of Smith Street & Oak Street in plain clothes and in an unmarked vehicle when they were approached by an individual named Anthony Crudup, age 48 of 330 Gifford Street, Perth Amboy, N.J. who asked them if they were looking to score any “cook up” referring to crack cocaine. The Detectives now acted in the capacity of undercover and agreed to purchase an amount of crack cocaine from Crudup. Crudup then left the area and went over to the Riverside Tavern located at 330 Smith Street where he was observed by other Detectives meeting with an individual identified as Shyron Thomas, age 32 of 640 Johnstone Street, Perth Amboy, N.J. outside at the rear of the Tavern. Once Crudup received the crack cocaine from Thomas, he immediately went directly to the Detectives and handed them (2) knotted baggies of crack cocaine. The Detectives then identified themselves as Police Officers and advised Crudup that he was under arrest. Crudup then attempted to flee and was secured and placed under arrest. Once the investigation was completed, Thomas, who was inside the bar was placed under arrest and found to possess the currency utilized for the purchase of crack cocaine by the Detectives.

Crudup was charged with possession of crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine to an undercover police officer, distribution of crack cocaine within 1000 feet of a School Zone and within 500 feet of a Public Housing Complex & resisting arrest.

Thomas was charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a School Zone & conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.

Bail was set by the Honorable Judge George M. Boyd at $25,000.00 with no 10% option for both. The total street value of the CDS seized is approximately $50.00. The investigation was led by Detective Mabner Terron.
