Advisory

CSX railwork on Monday (1/28/2013)

The Town of Ashland was notified at 2:30 p.m. today of work that will be done by CSX on Monday, January 28, 2013. Work to lay out the ¼ mile sections of track that will be installed later in February should begin around 10:00 a.m. and has the potential of extending through Tuesday. At this time we do not have specific details to share. It is expected that the England Street crossing could be closed for a minimum of 1 hour. All minor crossings will be closed for longer periods of time until the sections can be cut. This includes Francis, Myrtle, College, and Patrick Streets. We have met with CSX officials to ensure that they are creating the least amount of impact to the downtown businesses and the major crossings as possible. No significant closures are expected for the Ashcake Road or Vaughan Road crossings. Please use these as detours as needed. APD officers and Ashland Public Works crews will be out to mitigate any traffic impact and assist motorists in traveling through town. As we recieve additional details from CSX, we will notify you.
