Attempt Home Invasion and Shooting Suspects Arrested

On January 13, 2013 at approximately 8:00 pm, an organized gang of home invasion robbery suspects from the San Bernardino area attempted to conduct a home invasion robbery in the 1200 block of Kendrick Circle, Corona. As the gang began to initiate their plan, an off-duty police officer was attempting to return lost property to the residents at the home. When a member of the gang confronted the off-duty officer in the driveway with a handgun, an officer involved shooting occurred which resulted in one suspect, Dushine James Smith 41 years old of San Bernardino, being shot. Dushine’s handgun was recovered at the scene. Other suspects of the robbery crew assisted Smith to a waiting car as the off-duty officer sought cover and called 911. It was later revealed that Smith was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana where he died from his wounds. Corona Police Detectives along with San Bernardino Police Detectives began an exhaustive investigation to identify and locate the remaining suspects.

On January 18, 2013 Corona Police Detectives obtained arrest warrants for two suspects, Adrian Tremain Coleman 35-years-old of San Bernardino and Quentinn Blair Macklin 42-years-old of Highland. Later that day it was determined that Coleman was located at the Rodeway Inn Motel, 4075 East Guasti Road, Ontario. With the assistance of Ontario Police Department’s Special Response Team, Coleman was taken into custody without incident.

On January 19, 2013, Quentinn Macklin was located in the city of Lancaster. With the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Lancaster Station, Macklin was taken into custody without incident.
