ILLEGAL SOLICITATION ENFORCEMENT BY CRESCENTA VALLEY SHERIFF’S STATION DEPUTIES.
While working the city of La Canada Flintridge, deputies from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested two individuals for Solicitation without a permit in two separate incidents.

Residents became suspicious of the individuals who were selling magazines door to door and did not possess a La Canada Flintridge city permit to solicit. During the interactions with residents, both individuals became confrontational when residents declined to make a purchase from them. Both individuals do not live in the Crescenta Valley Station area and had no legitimate business in La Canada Flintridge.

On both occasions, residents called Crescenta Valley Station to report the suspicious behavior.

Although soliciting without a permit seems to be a low level crime, it is a tactic commonly used by individuals to ascertain if the resident is home, possibly resulting in a burglary that day or in the future.

Crescenta Valley Station personnel are fortunate to have the concerned residents of La Canada Flintridge who report suspicious people and activity in their neighborhoods.

All crime tips and reports of suspicious activity by the community enhance our continuing effort with Glendale, Pasadena and Los Angeles Police Departments to help reduce the larger “regional” burglary problem.
