MEDIA RELEASE – JANUARY 3, 2013
NEWARK DRUG DEALER ARRESTED SELLING
HEROIN IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III and Clinton Township Police Director Robert Manney announced today that a joint investigation between the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and the Clinton Township Police Department resulted in the arrest of two suspects for the distribution of heroin and cocaine.
Wade McFadden Jr., age 45, of Newark, was arrested yesterday by members of the Clinton Township Police Department in conjunction with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force. McFadden was arrested while attempting to deliver 99 bags of heroin and a quantity of crack cocaine to the Fountain Motel on Route 22 in Clinton Township.
Also arrested was Emma Lefkowitz, age 32, of Peapack. Ms. Lefkowitz transported McFadden to the motel from Newark to make the delivery.
Investigators also learned that Mr. McFadden was wanted by the Essex County Sheriff’s Office for Robbery and Child Neglect. He was charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute, possession of crack cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Prosecutor Kearns, “This investigation demonstrates a connection between Newark and Hunterdon County and shows the willingness of drug dealers to traffic heroin and crack cocaine here.”
The Honorable Stephen B. Rubin, J.S.C. set bail on Mr. McFadden at $20,000. He was subsequently lodged in the Hunterdon County Jail awaiting a first court appearance. Ms. Lefkowitz was charged with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia and released on her own recognizance.
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
