TYPE OF CRIME: Suspicious Person/Suspicious Vehicle

CASE #: 12-5897

LOCATION: 9300th Block of Monterey Road.

VICTIMS: Withheld – 11 year old, female, Gilroy Resident

SUSPECT: Hispanic Adult Male, 50-60 years old, short black hair, long mustache, last seeing wearing a black leather jacket and tan pants.

Vehicle: 2000 Model Forest Green Chevy Astro Minivan or similar make, no further description.

Details:

On 12/30/2012 at approximately 2:14 pm, Gilroy Police Officers responded to the 9300th Block of Monterey Road for a suspicious circumstance report.

The suspect slowed his vehicle and drove alongside the victim while she walked on the sidewalk. The suspect motioned the 11 year old victim over to his van and offered her a ride. The victim did not approach the van and continued walking on the sidewalk. A witness in the area observed the incident and drove towards the suspicious vehicle. The suspect immediately left the area after observing the witness. The suspect vehicle was last seen driving away north on Monterey Road from the 9300th Block.

A similar incident was reported to the Gilroy Police Department in January 2012. Both the suspect and vehicle description are similar to this reported incident. This particular incident occurred on the 8700 Block of Hirasaki Court.

The public is reminded to report any suspicious vehicles and/or persons to the Gilroy Police Department.
