Welcome to 2013! Check out our Police Department Annual Report for 2012, and look forward to 2013 with us! www.WhitehallPolice.org

Welcome to 2013!

We would like to thank all of our supporters, residents, business owners, staff members, and village officials for a safe and active 2012. We have attached a link to our Annual Police Department Activity Report [ http://goo.gl/8d82C ] for the year 2012, for those interested.

We are looking forward to a safe and pro-active 2013! Expect to see our officer's out on patrol, both on foot, patrol bicycle, and patrol car. We're always working to establish new initiatives in the community, and work with our residents, businesses, and community leaders to keep Whitehall a safe and welcoming community.

We'll continue to support the following initiatives for 2013 (and there are more to come!)...

- STOP-DWI Patrols and DWI / Safety Checkpoints. Expect to see our officers out on patrol, actively seeking those driving under the influence. As we are supported by the Washington County Stop DWI program, you will also see combined efforts between our staff, the Washington County Sheriff's staff, the State Police, and staff from other municipal law enforcement agencies around the area. Please remember, If you drink, don't drive, get a ride!

- Project Childsafe. We have a supply of Project Childsafe gun locks on hand at our office... They are FREE to the public. If you have firearms of any kind in your home, please be sure to play it safe and ALWAYS secure them. If you're interested in obtaining a free gunlock, contact us or stop by our station.

- Bicycle Registration Program. This past year we initiated our new Bicycle Registration system, allowing resident's to register their bicycles with the Police Department, either in person or on-line on our website! The service is free of charge and allows bicycle owners to stop by, or submit their bicycle make, model, serial number information on-line, and the information will be retained safely at the police department should your bicycle become stolen.

- House Watch Program. We will continue to conduct our "House Watch" program, which allows residents to inform the police department, either with a phone call, in person, or on-line on our website, that you will be out of town, and provides the police department with information regarding your home, and alternate contact information. Our patrols will make every effort to check on your home while you're away, time and activity allowing.

- Business Contact Information System. We will continue to provide an on-line resource on our website that allows businesses within the village to update their emergency contact information from the click of their mouse. By businesses utilizing the system, it ensures the police department staff has the most up to date emergency contact information for the business, and/or it's personnel when necessary.

- Unused / Expired Prescription Medication Drop Off Site. We will continue our support of the DEA's National Takeback Initiative and host a collection site during the mobilization periods. The collection site allows citizens to drop off expired or unused medications at the police department to be disposed of properly. Additionally, we are working to obtain grant funding to possibly obtain a secure medication drop box to host a safe collection location 24/7.

Throughout the past year, we also partnered with PoliceReports.us to simplify our Records Division and improve our availability of access to records on-line! All of our Motor Vehicle Accident reports are accessible online dating back to January, 2011, and we deployed a new "Report Request" feature on our website that allows for the filing and return of requests for Incident Reports and other police reports on-line.

All of our online features are available on our website at www.WhitehallPolice.org .

We look forward to continuing to improve our operations and continuing to serve the community of Whitehall!
