City of New Port Richey Gives Kids a Break From Parents While School is Out

New Port Richey, Florida — Children in New Port Richey can take a break from their parents during a one-day camp hosted by the City of New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department on Monday, January 7th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Pasco County Schools are closed for Winter Break through Monday, January 7 and many parents will need to find a one-day childcare option for their child to attend. To give parents a little relief and meet the needs of New Port Richey families, the City of New Port Richey is offering a one-day camp for kids ages six through thirteen at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center on 6630 Van Buren Street. The one-day camp costs $25 per child and includes lunch and a field trip to Lane Glo Bowling Alley.

“We are glad to be able to offer a one-day camp for parents,” said Elaine Smith, New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Director. “It allows the parents to go to work that day, and gives kids a chance to take a break from being inside and get active.”

The New Port Richey Recreation & Aquatic Center is a $14 million state-of-the-art facility located in New Port Richey, Florida. It offers a variety of affordable recreational activities and athletic training opportunities for everyone, of any age. Some amenities include two indoor, full court gymnasiums, dance studio, game room, fitness center, four pools, four tennis courts, two outside basketball courts, and a skate park.

For more information, or to register your child for New Port Richey’s One-Day Camp call 727-841-4560. Early registration is recommended as space is limited to thirty children and a minimum of ten.
