Adams County, IN-The Indiana State Police responded to and investigated a two vehicle crash that occurred this morning on US 27 near County Road 400 S, north of Berne, which injured five and closed the roadway for at least an hour.
According to Master Trooper Kurt Jack, at approximately 10:45 this morning a 2000 Oldsmobile driven by 22 year old Jacqueline P. Curtis of Bryant, Indiana was traveling south on US 27, near County Road 400 S. As a result of her speed at the time, she lost control of her vehicle on the snow covered roadway and went left of center. Curtis’ vehicle collided head on with a northbound 1999 GMC truck driven by 22 year old Angela M. Price of Decatur, Indiana.
Curtis and one of her passengers, 27 year old Nicholas F. Mata of Decatur were taken to Adams Memorial for complaints of pain while a second passenger, 23 year old Adam W. Hough of Portland, Indiana was taken to the same hospital for a possible fracture.
Price and her two passengers, 4 year old Jemson Price and 1 year old Jaxton Price were all taken to Adams Memorial for complaints of pain. All of the five occupants of the two vehicles were properly restrained at the time, thus limiting the severity of their injuries. Curtis was cited for operating without financial responsibility, driving while suspended, driving left of center and speed too fast. Jack was assisted at the scene by the Berne Police, Adams County Sheriff and Decatur Police Departments.
