Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports that his office is investigating a vehicle/pedestrian crash, that occured on 12/24/2012, at approximately 6:30 in the evening. A vehicle, driven by Franklin Strawser (68), of Constantine was traveling east bound on U.S. 12 near Union road. The vehicle struck a pedestrian that was in the roadway. The pedestrian was identified as Lori Wilkes (42)of jones. Wilkes was transported by Porter twp ambulance, assisted by Oslo ambulance, to Memorial Hospital In South Bend, where she is in serious but stable condition. Alcohol and speed on behalf of the driver do not appear to be factors in the crash. This incident remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Office.
