Alert

Weather Advisory and use of Nixle for alerts on Snow Emergency declarations. Make sure to receive advisory in settings.

With winter now upon us and the first Winter Weather Advisory being issued for our area this is a reminder that we will once again use Nixle to alert people on declarations of snow emergencies.
They are forecasting a snow storm that could potentially dump a significant amount of snow in our area starting late Wednesday into Thursday. If a snow emergency is declared by Public Works the Portage Police Department will send an alert via Nixle. Please make sure you set the preferences in your nixle account to receive "advisory" from Portage PD. You may also call the snow emergency hotline at 742-2176 ext 335. Please use all available resources to keep informed about snow emergencies in the event that there is a communication breakdown on getting the information to us at the Portage Police Department. We will also try and use our Facebook page to keep everyone posted.
Be safe driving, use extra precautions, and be alert for rapidly changing conditions.
