Advisory

Capital Murder Shadybrook Lane

Officers responded to a shooting call at 6800 Shadybrook Lane on Monday, December 10, 2012, at approximately 11:55 PM. Arrestee Garrett Branch was dropped off in the area of Park Lane and Greenville by a witness and two unknown accomplices. Arrestee Branch told the witness before being dropped off that he was "going to hit a lick," common terminology for robbery. According to the witness, arrestee Branch contacted the victim Sean Green earlier in the night by phone and arranged a meeting under the pretense of buying drugs from him. The victim and the arrestee met near the dumpster area of the Urbano at Midtown Apartments located at 6800 Shady Brook Lane. Both the arrestee and victim were armed and the two exchanged gunfire, each shooting the other. The victim, Sean Green was shot multiple times in the torso and collapsed at the scene. Dallas Fire Rescue responded and transported the victim to Baylor Hospital where he died as a result of his wounds. The arrestee contacted the witness by phone approximately 10 minutes after being dropped off telling the witness that he had been shot. The witness and the unknown accomplices returned to the area of Park Lane and Greenville Ave and picked up arrestee Branch and transported him to Medical City Hospital. Immediately prior to entering the hospital, arrestee Branch unloaded his pistol, handed the loaded magazine to the witness, and the empty gun to one of the unknown accomplices who placed the weapon near some bushes near the emergency room. Officers responded to the Medical City emergency room upon learning that a man was shot at the location. After determining that he was a possible suspect in this offense, officers remained with arrestee Branch and transported the witness to the Crimes Against Persons office to be interviewed. During the interview, the witness produced the loaded pistol magazine and confirmed the facts as previously stated. The witness then directed officers to the area where the witness believed the arrestee's gun was hidden. Officers located the weapon and recovered it. The weapon recovered was a 9mm handgun, the same caliber as the casings found at the crime scene. The victim, Sean Green was in possession of a .22 caliber revolver when officers contacted him at the scene. The arrestee is being charged with Capital Murder. At this time the arrestee is currently at Parkland Hospital and is critical condition.
