UPDATE: Dog thrown from bridge in stable condition; surgery scheduled for Monday. #OCSO

UPDATED: Rookie has been transported to the Oklahoma State University Veterinary College Teaching Hospital where he is currently listed in stable condition. Surgery is scheduled for Monday as veterinarians will attempt to repair and save Rookie's shattered leg. The OCSO is still seeking information from the public regarding this animal cruelty case. Anyone who saw the crime or has information about the crime is asked to call us.


(Oklahoma City) The Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) is seeking information from the public regarding a case of animal cruelty. December 5, 2012 the OCSO was contacted by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol regarding a German Sheperd that was thrown from a bridge on S.E. 59th Street down to Interstate-40.

The dog was identified through a tag on his collar as “Rookie”. The animal is in critical condition with several injuries including an open fracture on it’s rear left leg and is also suffering from internal bleeding. An OCSO Animal Welfare deputy transported “Rookie” to the Deer Creek Animal Hospital in Harrah, Oklahoma where he is currently being treated.

The Humane Society of the United States has agreed to cover all veterinary care costs for “Rookie”, and is offering a $2,500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.
