Update to police activity (vehicle pursuit ending near 3100 Coolidge Ave)
This morning at about 10:42am, community members near the intersection of Nicole and Coolidge were notified of nearby police activity. Oakland police had pursued a fleeing vehicle in and near the Fruitvale area and were at that time taking occupant(s) into custody. This is an update to that original alert.
Earlier this morning, at approximately 9:10am, there was a shooting near or within the 1300 blk of E. 31st. The victim was self transported to hospital with serious injuries. Officers responded to both the scene and hospital to conduct an investigation.
At approximately 10:33am, the preliminary investigation led to officers' attempt to stop a vehicle possibly connected to the crime. The driver failed to pull over and officers pursued the suspect by vehicle in and around the 1600 block to 3100 blocks of Fruitvale Avenue. The occupant(s) were safely taken into custody within the 3100 blk of Coolidge Ave. A firearm was reportedly recovered from the vehicle.
