SUSPECT: 16 year old male juvenile from Redwood City, Ca.
DETAILS:
On 12/03/2012, approximately 12 PM, two females were walking through a parking lot at one of the busninesses. The suspect described rode his bicycle up and ripped a gold chain necklace from one of their necks. The suspect fled traveling Northbound through the parking lot toward E. 14th St.
The incident was immediately reported to the San Leandro Police Department’s communications center. Dispatchers provided the details to responding police units. The suspect was found hiding in a garbage can several blocks away. The suspect was located hiding in a trash can.
Lt. Randall Brandt said, “Citizens really need to be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity. Typically suspects increase their activity during holiday times and citizens need to proactive in preventing it.”
