LOCATION: 200 block of Castro Street, west of E. 14th St., San Leandro

INVESTIGATING DETECTIVE(S): Detective Sergeant Henderson

SUSPECT(S) DESCRIPTION: 2 Hispanic male adults, around 18-20 years old, approximately 5’7” tall, one had a thin build and the other was more heavy set. The huskier suspect was armed with a handgun.


DETAILS:

On 11/19/2012, approximately 4 PM, San Leandro police officers responded to the 200 block of Castro Street, for the report of an armed robbery.

Officers met with the victim and he stated he had been robbed at gunpoint. The victim was in one of the parking lots of an apartment complex and the suspects described approached him. The heavier set suspect pointed a gun at him and demanded the gold chain he was wearing around his neck. One of the suspects ripped the chain from his neck and both suspects fled on foot with his chain running towards Castro Street.

Lt. Randall Brandt said, “Jewelry robberies are up throughout the Bay Area and citizens need to be aware of their surroundings. They should hide their valuables and report suspicious activity without delay.”

Investigators are actively investigating this incident.
