Storm update - 11/8/12
Today, JCP&L posted a revised power restoration estimate for the outages in Readington Township. We started with 6,600 outages last Tuesday and we are down to 1541 outage today. This is of little consolation to our residents still without power. Hunterdon County still has 12,041 customers without power, so this is not just a Readington Township issue, it is an area wide issue. There is major damage to power lines in town and we continue to work with JCP&L to get them back as quickly as possible. Please refer to the JCP&L outage update chart for the estimated time of repair. JCP&L updates the chart at 10:00 AM daily. https://www.firstenergycorp.com/content/dam/newsroom/files/Town_ETR_Report.pdf Damage to the power circuit from the substation to Readington Middle School and Holland Brook School is more extensive than previously estimated. JCP&L cannot provide us with an estimated time of repair. The Office of Emergency Management is working with the Army Corps of Engineers to evaluate the size of industrial generators required to power these two schools. FEMA will then determine if we will be awarded the generators until line power is returned. Hopefully, Readington Middle School and Holland Brook School can re-open on Monday 11/12. Residents may bring tree debris to the Township Recycling Center during business Monday –Friday 7am–3pm; Saturday 7am–2pm. The normal disposal fee is waived.
Readington Township Municipal Building has water and ice available from 8am – 6pm.
8:30am – 6:00pm, the lobby of the municipal building has a charging station for electronics, and internet access. There is also a computer with Internet access available.
There is a hose available 24 hours a day to fill water jugs. Also, there is 24 hour access to a charging center in the lobby of the police station.
