Officers were able to recover two semi-automatic handguns, one of which had been reported stolen and one replica pellet gun. Due to excellent teamwork, proactive policing and diligent investigative work by our officers, the suspects in these cases were arrested and guns used to commit violent acts and future violent acts were taken off the streets. Below is a summary of the fine police work done by San Leandro officers who proudly serve this community.

Officers responded to McDonalds at 1287 Washington Ave., regarding an armed robbery. Two suspects entered the men’s bathroom and threatened to shoot the victim while brandishing a firearm. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and fled the scene on foot. Officers arrived on scene and broadcast the suspect’s description provided by the victim. A short time later two suspects were stopped in the 1800 block of E14th St. The loss was recovered along with a pellet firing pistol that looked like a semi-automatic handgun on one of the suspects.

A San Leandro Police officer made a traffic stop on Washington Ave. near Parrott St. A passenger in the vehicle fled on foot while holding something in his waistband. A perimeter was set up and a search was conducted for the suspect. The suspect was located in nearby driveway where he tried to discard a 9mm semi-automatic handgun underneath a vehicle. The suspect was arrested and the gun was recovered. The gun has been reported stolen out of Placer County.
