Sandy Recovery Update

Freehold Township OEM is continuing to monitor recovery efforts from this week's storm. Emergency crews continue to work at providing essential services and the police department is actively providing assistance and patrolling neighborhoods and businesses.

JCP&L is working to restore power as soon as possible. In the last 24 hours, over 2,000 households in the township have been restored in the last 24 hours. The number of outages in the township is at 8,500, down from nearly 14,000 earlier this week.

Residents in need of water can go to the Water Department on Jackson Mills Road for potable water. You MUST bring your own containers. There is a self-serve water distribution area set up outside the building.

Those who suffered property damage or loss during the storm should document all damage or loss. FEMA officials are in the county. Once FEMA reception centers are established, residents will be advised and assistance claims can be made. The Small Business Administration has low-interest loans available for storm victims, as well. Contact them for information.

Many people still have no power or heat. We ask that you check on neighbors and friends in the community and offer any assistance you can. With the massive damage along the shore, state and federal resources will be difficult to get this area.

As recovery update are available they will be distributed.

Freehold Township OEM has received several calls from township residents generously offering to make donations and to volunteer in the recovery efforts. A second message will be sent shortly with information regarding donations and volunteering.
