Disaster Assistance- If you sustained losses or damage from Hurricane Sandy you may be eligible for disaster aid.

FEMA is in Elizabeth. They have blue FEMA jackets and Federal IDs.

Attention Residents, especially in the area of Front Street and Frog Hollow:
If any water meter was under water it needs to be replaced. Elizabethtown Gas will be replacing water meters. If your natural gas meter has been affected by flooding, please contact the Elizabethtown Gas Customer Care Center at 1-800-242-5830.

Do not operate natural gas appliances that are or have been submerged in water until they have been inspected by a qualified plumber or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professional to ensure repair or replacement is not necessary. For information on qualified natural gas contractors, call Energy connections Center at 1-877-737-2477 or visit www.elizabethtowngas.com/dealterlocator.aspx

If you smell gas, immediately leave the affected area and call the Elizabethtown Gas 24-hour emergency response line, at 1-800-492-4009 from a safe location. Never try to identify the source of the leak.

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announced that residents without power who need to recharge their cell phones can use the mobile Union County information van stationed at the corner of Elizabethtown Plaza and Rahway Avenue in midtown Elizabeth. The charging station will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A free public charging station for cell phones is also available at the Union County Ralph Froehlich Public Safety Building in Westfield at 300 North Avenue East. That facility is open 24 hours a day.

Both stations are available only for charging cell phones. Laptops and other devices cannot be accommodated due to long charging times.


Alternate side of the street parking is suspended until further notice, parking meter rules are still in affect. Regular garbage pickup schedule will resume on Monday November 5th.
