Power restoration progress
We have been in contact with representatives from JCP&L. They have sustained significant damage to power substations and transmission lines. The plan for restoration has to start at the substations first. There is no sense in repairing transmission lines until the substations can provide power, because of this JCP&L is not expected to START clearing roadways until WEDNESDAY. As JCP&L stated prior to the storm, it maybe 7 – 10 days before power is restored to all customers.
Getting substations back online may restore power to some residents; however it may also restore power to downed lines that previously may not have been energized.
Only an authorized JCP&L representative can determine if a line is safe, for that reason residents SHOULD NOT attempt to move, or travel over any down utility line. Residents should stay away from any utility line.
If a resident needs any assistance or information please call Readington Township Office of Emergency Management, Emergency Operations Center at 908-534-4051 x279 or the Readington Township Police non-emergency line 908-534-4031
Residents should continue to report any power outage to the JCP&L customer hotline at 1-888-544-4877 (1-888-LIGHTSS
