The Whitehall Police Department and local officials are asking residents to do your part and stay informed and up to date on the forecasted events of the Hurricane Sandy weather event, and prepare, as necessary.

National Weather Service officials, as well as all of the local media and news outlets are doing their best to continue to deliver all of the most up to date storm projections and models, as well as advising what type of weather to prepare for. Be sure to check your social media outlets, news and NWS websites, listen to the radio or check out your local news and weather stations for the most up to date information.

Local and Emergency Management officials have plans in place in case of major weather related emergencies and will deploy the plans and resources as necessary.

Should widespread emergency messages need to be relayed to the residents and businesses, in addition to the use of websites, social media, and print media, the message will be broadcast over the Washington County Department of Public Safety’s Reverse Telephone Notification system, Hyper-Reach. Messages will be directed to all land-line residential telephones in the target area, and any user who has signed up their mobile phones to receive alerts.
