...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM MONDAY TO 9 AM EDT
TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A HIGH
WIND WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 8 AM MONDAY TO 9 AM EDT
TUESDAY. THE HIGH WIND WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* WINDS...NORTHEAST TO NORTH AT 35 TO 45 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 60 TO
TO 75 MPH ARE ANTICIPATED MONDAY AND EARLY MONDAY NIGHT.
SHIFTING WINDS MAY STILL GUST TO 55 MPH TUESDAY MORNING BEFORE
DIMINISHING LATER IN THE DAY. THE POTENTIAL FOR LOCAL WIND GUSTS
TO 75 MPH...IS MAINLY ALONG THE COASTS OF NEW JERSEY AND DELAWARE.

* TIMING...NORTHERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE FROM THE ATLANTIC COAST
INLAND DURING THE DAYLIGHT HOURS MONDAY. THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE
EXPECTED TO OCCUR BETWEEN 4 PM MONDAY AND 4 AM TUESDAY...ESPECIALLY
MONDAY EVENING JUST AHEAD AND JUST AFTER SANDY`S LANDFALL. WHILE
THE PRIMARY DAMAGING WIND EVENT IS SLATED FOR LATE MONDAY OR
MONDAY NIGHT...SPOTTY DAMAGE COULD BEGIN SHORTLY AFTER DAYBREAK
MONDAY.

* IMPACTS...A PROLONGED PERIOD OF HIGH WINDS WILL INCREASE THE
POTENTIAL FOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGE... DOWNED TREES AND WIDESPREAD
POWER OUTAGES...ESPECIALLY FROM THE INTERSTATE 95 CORRIDOR
EASTWARD TO THE COASTS. THE COMBINATION OF THE
WIND...INCREASINGLY RAIN SOFTENED GROUND... AND MANY TREES STILL
LOADED WITH LEAVES... SHOULD RESULT IN WIDESPREAD POWER OUTAGES
MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT. TREES COULD BE COMPLETELY UPROOTED AND
MANY TREE LIMBS WILL BE BROKEN. POWER OUTAGES MAY BE OF LONG
DURATION.

* DURATION...THERE IS A SMALL CHANCE THIS WARNING MAY NEED TO BE
EXTENDED INTO MIDDAY TUESDAY...DEPENDENT ON SANDY`S STRENGTH AND
LOCATION IN PENNSYLVANIA. IF THE WARNING WOULD NEED AN EXTENSION
INTO TUESDAY...IT WOULD BE PRIMARILY FOR THE COASTAL AREAS.

A HIGH WIND WARNING MEANS A HAZARDOUS HIGH WIND EVENT IS EXPECTED
OR OCCURRING. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 40 MPH OR GUSTS
OF 58 MPH OR MORE CAN LEAD TO PROPERTY DAMAGE.
