The Grosse Pointe Farms Dept of Public Safety would like to advise residents of the following:
On October 30th & October 31st (Halloween) the Public Safety Department will have extra officers patrolling the city during the evening hours. Due to DTE’s continuous work on improving & repairing the street light system, some blocks may not have working streetlights. Residents are being informed that, due to these low light conditions, extra caution should be utilized.
On October 30th (Devils Night), the potential for juvenile mischief is increased. Extra officers will be on the road enforcing curfew violations and being as proactive as possible to prevent any incidents from occurring. Juveniles 15 or 16 years of age cannot be out on the streets, sidewalks, parks, vacant lots, or other public place between the hours of 11:00pm & 6:00am. Juveniles 14 & under have the same rules but the hours are changed to 10:00pm – 6:00am. October 31st (Halloween). Trick-or-treating is a customary practice throughout the Grosse Pointe area.

Some safety tips to keep in mind:
- Reflective costumes
- No vision obstructions
- Carry a flashlight
- Go in groups with adult supervision
- Utilize sidewalks & crosswalks (never walk in the street).
- Check candy prior to eating
