Emergency Alert System Message for Monroe Regarding Phone Lines 
On behalf of the City of Monroe Police & Fire.
At approximately 2:47 PM today police and fire officials received a report of a cut fiber optical cable impacting phone service in the Monroe Area. Details are still being collected including which areas may be having telephone problems. This has impacted some people’s ability to call 9-1-1.
The City of Monroe has activated their emergency operations center, have personnel at fire and police stations and are conducting roving patrols in the community. If you are in the Monroe area and are having trouble calling 9-1-1 there are personnel standing by at your local police and fire stations. Please do not call 9-1-1 unless you have an emergency.
Preliminary reports are that Verizon Wireless & T-Mobile phones are working properly, however AT&T Wireless and Sprint/Nextel are not working
