Squad based violence suppression operations are components of short-term crime reduction plans and are built to address specific criminal activity, locations, gangs, groups, or individuals who may be linked to current violent crime. Within the last 24hrs, four firearms have been recovered along with quantities of methamphetamine and marijuana for sale. In all instances, recoveries were made during either the safe execution of a search warrant based on probable cause, or intelligence-led probation searches of residences.
Although you usually only see or hear of Oakland crime in papers or media accounts following a senseless act of violence on City streets, Oakland police officers are routinely making these arrests, taking firearms off the street, and following plans of action designed to bring Oakland a community safe from crime as it deserves.
