Incident: DUI Driver Causes Collision on South McDowell Blvd
Driver arrested for DUI and child endangerment with two small children in vehicle.
Driver: Araceli Amador Gomez, age 36, from Petaluma
Locations: South McDowell Blvd at Maria Drive
Summary: On the listed date and time, Petaluma Police received a report of a vehicle collision at South McDowell Blvd and Maria Drive. Upon arrival, officers learned that the above listed driver failed to stop for traffic stopped at the signal and rear ended another vehicle. Nobody was injured in the collision but officers discovered Gomez was under the influence of alcohol. A DUI investigation resulted in her arrest. Officers also found her two small children in the vehicle. Her one year old daughter and seven year old son were not injured and were released to a grandparent.
Gomaz was booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges of DUI and child endangerment.
Impaired driving remains a serious traffic safety problem in Petaluma. Funding for traffic safety efforts used to combat DUI have been made possible by grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
