DETAILS:
On 10-01-12, approximately 7 PM, a San Leandro resident reported their vehicle had been stolen from the area of 13700 Doolittle Dr.
Officers investigated the incident and were not initially successful in finding the stolen vehicle. The victim called back around 8:30 PM and reported their vehicle had returned to the area and a suspect was scene. Officers responded and located the suspect (Albert Rojas) and he was in another vehicle. Rojas was arrested after a brief struggle for stealing the original vehicle.
The second vehicle Rojas was trying to start was a stolen vehicle that was reported stolen in San Leandro on 09-30-12.
Lt. Randall Brandt said, “The officers involved in this incident did a great job. They recovered two stolen vehicles intact and the may have prevented the suspect from initiating a high pursuit putting public safety at risk.”
