Police Chief Sandra Spagnoli and the San Leandro Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit are inviting community members and businesses to a Community Policing Forum at the City’s Senior Community Center on Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The meeting will be held from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, providing an excellent opportunity for the community, businesses, homeowners’ associations and police department to establish partnerships with each other.

Topics of discussion will include the introduction of the Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit, the Department’s newly appointed Community Relations Officer, Jennifer Crosby, crime prevention tips and partnering with the police department through Neighborhood and Business Watch programs.

Following the Police Department’s presentation, people attending Tuesday’s meeting will have a chance to meet with representatives of Citizens for a Safer San Leandro, the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Association, the Business Association of South San Leandro, Neighborhood Watch, Crime Free Multi-Housing, and various homeowners’ associations. Representatives from the Alameda County Fire Department will be present to discuss emergency preparedness and community emergency response training (CERT).

The Crime Prevention Unit encourages businesses and community members to actively participate in kepping San Leandro safe. This meeting will discuss the partnership between the Police Department and Citizens for a Safer San Leandro and encourage residents and business owners to join your Neighborhood Watch, Business Watch, and Homeowners’ Association groups and take a proactive approach towards preventing crime in our community.
We will also introduce our newly appointed Community Relations Officer, CSO Jennifer Crosby.
