Incident: 3 Time Habitual DUI Offender Arrested After Stakeout
Driver on DUI Probation, Suspended License, and No Interlock Device
Driver: Lorena Duran, age 36, from Petaluma
Vehicle: Tan Acura Integra, CA License 3FDV831
Locations: Steele Lane at Coddingtown Shopping Center
Summary: Petaluma Police Department Traffic Officers continue to monitor habitual DUI offenders. Last weekend officers began surveillance on Lorena Duran. DMV records indicated that Duran had three prior DUI convictions, her license was suspended for DUI, and she was to only drive a vehicle with an ignition interlock device installed.
On Monday, at about 2pm, Petaluma Officers located Duran’s vehicle parked near the Hall of Justice. Surveillance was again resumed and when she drove away officers stopped her in the Coddingtown Shopping Center.
Duran was arrested for driving on a suspended license, driving a vehicle without an ignition interlock device, and for violating the terms of her DUI probation. She was booked into Sonoma County Jail with bail set at $10,000. The vehicle she was driving was impounded for 30 days. Duran was not under the influence of alcohol when she was stopped.
Impaired driving remains a serious traffic safety problem in Petaluma. Funding for traffic safety efforts used to combat DUI have been made possible by grant funding from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
