Ruse Burglaries in the Walnut / Diamond Bar Area Appear to Target the Elderly. 3 MH's, Wht Ford Escape - LASD

VICTIMS:
73 year-old Female
85 years-old male
70 years-old male

SUSPECT(S):
3 Male Hispanics, approximately 35-40 years of age

Walnut/ Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station deputies have responded to several residential burglaries which appear to target unsuspecting elderly homeowners.

Within the past week, suspects have targeted three locations by way of ruse:

On Wednesday, September 26, 2012, deputies from the Walnut/ Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station responded to the 600 block of Junewood Place, Diamond Bar, to investigate a residential burglary. When deputies arrived they contacted the victim who told them three males claiming to be sub-contractors for the city of Diamond Bar knocked at his front door. All three suspects were wearing green uniform shirts with a tree logo on the front.

The victim said one of the suspects distracted him by walking with him toward the property line. While distracted, the other two suspects entered the residence through an unlocked door in the garage. The victim’s adult sons confronted the two suspects inside the residence and the two suspects fled the location by foot toward Chandelle Place and out of view.

A white Ford Escape or similar vehicle was possibly involved. In this incident, nothing was stolen from within the residence.


On Thursday, September 27, 2012, deputies from the Walnut/ Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station responded to the 400 block of Vista Rambla, Walnut, to take a residential burglary report. When deputies contacted the victim he told them that on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at about 4:30 p.m. three unknown males knocked at his front door.

They told the victim they were City of Walnut workers. One of the suspects distracted the victim by talking to him about the power lines and the upcoming construction they were going to do. They spoke in the victim’s backyard. A short time later the victim saw the other two suspects leave his residence and head towards a white four door vehicle. A day had passed before the victim realized several watches and miscellaneous pieces of jewelry were stolen.


On Thursday, September 27, 2012, deputies from the Walnut/ Diamond Bar Sheriff’s Station responded to the 600 block of Looking Glass Drive, Diamond Bar, to investigate a residential burglary that just occurred.

When the deputies arrived at the residence, the victim told them someone knocked at her front door. The victim opened the front door and was contacted by a male Hispanic who told her the water to her residence was contaminated. The victim allowed the suspect into her house and escorted him to the kitchen faucet. The suspect told the victim to watch the tap until the water changes color. A short time later the victim noticed the suspect leaving her residence. The suspect got into the front passenger seat of a dark blue sedan driven by a second suspect. The victim discovered her bedroom had been ransacked and her jewelry stolen.
