SUSPECT: Anthony Nunes, 24 years of age, San Leandro resident
DETAILS:
Victim: Hispanic male adult, 42 years of age, San Leandro resident
On 09-14-12 approximately 9:43 PM, a stabbing occurred in the 2000 block of Alvarado St. The victim sustained a stab wound to his right hand. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he received medical treatment.
The incident occurred after Nunes began yelling profanity at the victim while the victim was socializing with some friends in the 2000 block of Alvarado St. The victim confronted the suspect and a physical altercation broke out. During the fight the suspect pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the victim in the hand. After stabbing the victim, Nunes was physically restrained by a “Good Samaritan” until police arrived on scene and took him into custody. Nunes was transported to a local hospital for injuries he sustained during the fight with the victim. After being treated for his injuries, Nunes was transported to jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
The weapon used during the assault was recovered at the scene. No further information at this time.
