The Lubbock Police Department is accepting registrations for the LPD Explorer Post.

The Explorer Post is open to boys and girls, ages 14 to 21, who have an interest in law enforcement. The LPD advisors teach the Explorers about Texas Law as well as traffic direction, note taking, patrol procedures, executing search warrants, traffic stops, handling domestic disturbances and other law enforcement related topics. Our Explorers have traveled to other cities and competed against other explorer posts in role-playing scenarios. Upon meeting certain internal post requirements, Explorers will also have an opportunity to ride along with an LPD officer on patrol. The Explorer Post goes on campouts, field trips, and rappelling. We also get involved in various community projects. The cost is $20 a year, which includes membership and an Explorer T-shirt.
The Explorer Post meets once a week at the Police Department.

This Explorer program is a great way for young adults to learn about law enforcement, and to see if they may be interested in a law enforcement career.

Parents can bring their interested young adults to the Lubbock Police Department on September 18th at 7:00 PM for the sign up event. There will be a short presentation and some activities to take part in. Interested young adults can sign up for the program at that time.
