On Monday, August 13, 2012, shortly after noon, Deputy Gomez responded to a radio call of a one-year-old child who had fallen, hit her head, and was unconscious.
Deputy Gomez found the baby girl lying on the floor, blue in the face, not breathing, and with no pulse. He immediately began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save her life. He continued applying CPR until paramedics arrived and took over.
The toddler was immediately transported to a local hospital by paramedics. Once in the emergency room, her condition was stabilized.
Due to Deputy Gomez’s quick, decisive actions, the young victim is still alive, much to the relief of her grateful family.
